The Arctic Sun
By Kirsten Murphy:
Daring. Ambitious. Never been done before. That's how Tropicana's Arctic Sun television commercial will be remembered. The entire commercial was shot on location in the remote Arctic town of Inuvik, Northwest Territories, in early January 2010. Despite the darkness, it is a bright commercial testing the limits of creativity and resourcefulness. There were no elaborate sets or professionally trained actors in this town of 3,500 people. Just ordinary Arctic conditions in the hands of extraordinary filmmakers. Filming coincided with Inuvik's highly anticipated Return of the Sun Festival: an annual event celebrated by Arctic communities around the world.
